Swing Times is a roleplay sim created by Captain Paul Creighton, a well-known pilot and author of the “Knight of the Sky”. The Grand Opening took place in March 15th 2012 bringing the glitz, glamour and music of the 1930-40’s to Second LifeTM.Swing Times City offers a luxurious Ballroom hotel as well as a USO Club, a Movie Theatre and a Drive-in, exquisite shops and urban period residences for the Ladies and Gentlemen who wish to join such fine community. There is also a full scale Zeppelin, hovering overheard, complete with a bar, lounge, dining room and even a small spa. In addition to shops, apartments and staterooms on the Zeppelin for rent, there is land for sale as well. All of the lots are either on the water or located at street intersections. The sim is designed so all of the lots are close to the central square and hence close to the action.
In Captain Creighton’s own words, «Swing Times is my take on this period, as history, but also as what could have been, with influences from fiction creeping into the mix like the pulps, Decopunk and Dieselpunk.
We offer an eclectic weekly schedule of events focused the glitz and glamour, and most of all, on the music. But there are also community events and meetings giving neighbors and friends a chance to meet and visit new establishments within Swing Times and Docklands».
